Modernizing manufacturing landscape in the Philippines

Bosch cements commitment with the Department of Trade and Industry
  • The partners aim to advance technologies and sustainable practices in the manufacturing sector
  • Enabling the first Industry 4.0 pilot factory in the Philippines
  • Partnership highlights collaboration on a pilot factory harnessing the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and connected manufacturing

Singapore – Bosch, a global leading supplier of technology and services, signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to collaborate on digital transformation and Industry 4.0 initiatives in the Philippines. Together with other technology partners, Bosch aims to bring expertise in various industrial sectors, providing a comprehensive range of products and services such as automation technologies, industrial hydraulics, electric drives, linear motion technology, assembly systems, and IoT solutions.

The Philippines’ first state-of-the-art pilot factory will serve as an experiential learning laboratory equipped with automation technology.

Upskilling Filipinos, building an Industry 4.0 ready workforce

The MoU highlights co-promoting digital transformation and Industry 4.0 initiatives in the Philippines through identifying and addressing skill gaps in its priority industries. In 2020, Bosch launched its Industry 4.0 training program in Singapore through its Bosch Rexroth Regional Training Centre (BRRTC) in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic to produce bite-sized modules to help manufacturers modernize their factories, processes, and skills. A longer specialist course was also rolled out in 2021, in partnership with the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce covering areas, such as business models in production and logistics, and technology related to cyber physical systems.

Secretary Alfredo Pascual headed the DTI delegation visiting the Bosch Rexroth regional training centre as part of their Singapore Industry 4.0 Mission, which explored potential opportunities with Singapore in the areas of technology and innovation, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and its application across sectors. The MoU signing is a key highlight of DTI’s goal in building partnerships with leading technology providers like Bosch.

Our partnership with Bosch represents our pivotal collaborations with both local and international partners, and technology providers to build a robust Industry 4.0 ecosystem in the country,

Secretary Pascual
